A 28-year-old married man was arrested in Bengaluru for allegedly offering wife-swapping services on the internet, reports this week said. Police apprehended him Thursday under the Information Technology (IT) Act. The accused reportedly used to upload obscene images and videos on social media, inviting clients to his home. The man and his wife have a toddler son.
Identified as one Vinay Kumar, the accused made fake social media accounts under a woman’s name and put up offers related to wife-swapping. He reportedly got clients through Twitter, where he shared sexually explicit content from his account. Interested parties then contacted him through other channels like Telegram to take him up on his offer.
According to Indian Express, Kumar is also a pornography addict and allegedly coerced his wife to watch the content with him as well. The accused’s gadgets have been seized for further examination.

Police said he and his wife agreed to offer swap services and told clients to come near their house in Bengaluru’s tech hub of Electronic City. Here, the persons involved would allegedly film lewd acts.
A Times of India report says Kumar’s wife too was arrested with him under relevant sections of the IT Act. The nude photos and videos Kumar uploaded would allegedly be of his wife. People who came to the couple’s house “spent time with Kumar’s wife,” police were quoted saying. Kumar, meanwhile, allegedly enjoyed watching his wife engage sexually with others.
The case came to light when Bengaluru police were tagged by a Twitter user on one of the couple’s tweets. Their location was tracked through Telegram.
Reports are split over whether the case was of wife-swapping or involved Kumar soliciting partners for his wife.
A wife-swapping racket busted recently in Kerala triggered massive debate on the practice and the condition of women’s consent in the arrangement. As per reports, a 26-year-old married woman from Kottayam filed a police complaint alleging her husband forced her to engage in wife-swapping schemes against her consent.
She was allegedly under this condition, intimidated by her husband, for two years and even made her complaints public through a YouTube podcast. A probe into the matter revealed the existence of a larger network of wife-swapping across the state and led to the arrests of multiple men. More here.
