According to the officials, when a team of police reached the hospital to meet the survivor, she told them that on September 26, she was allegedly raped by her senior colleague.
The accused lives in the residential complex at the AIIMS complex. The survivor told the police that on the day of the incident, she and her colleagues had alcohol and stayed back the night at his place. The survivor alleged that the accused then forced himself upon her at night.
Based on this statement, the police registered a case against the accused under sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) 376, punishment for rape and 377, unnatural offences at the Hauz Khas police station.
An officer close to the investigation said that the statement of the survivor was recorded under section 164 Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), which means the statement was recorded in front of a magistrate, and few raids were conducted at the hideouts of the accused.
The police have also mounted technical surveillance, mostly conducted via the deployment of eavesdropping devices or hidden cameras or by manipulating an in-situ electronic device, on the accused.
According to early investigations, the accused lived with his family at the residential complex. But on the night of the incident, the family was out of town. The police also notified that other doctors at the party will also be questioned.
