13 Year Old Gujarat Girl is Youngest Indian Selected for Antarctica Expedition
A young girl from Gujarat is the youngest Indian selected for the Antarctica Expedition. Passionate about the global cause of climate change is Aanya from Ahmedabad, is head there soon. This 13 year old is the youngest Indian to be selected for the prestigious annual expedition. It’s aim is to sensitize the masses about the perils of climate change.
She is currently a student of Sahyadri School, Pune. Besides her, 79 other people will be participating in the expedition from February 27 to March 12, 2018. Sir Robert Swan, a polar explorer, will be leading it.
Through the expedition, the girl aspires to bring about a change at the community and corporate level by spreading awareness about the burning issue.
“I plan to bring back learning, a strong narrative, knowledge and real-time observations of climate change to build effective solutions to combat the effects in our communities in India,” Aanya told Bengalore Mirror.
“I will come back being a mascot of 2041 Foundation and create awareness to build a better world. I want to promote sustainability as part of our lives,” Aanya added.
She is eager to participate in the event and has started crowd-funding through Fueladream. The platform is based in Bengaluru and allows pooling of funds for a cause. Interestingly, she has already raised Rs 9,89,127 from 135 funders.

It is heartening to see young girls like Aanya striving to contribute their bit in solving some pertinent global issues affecting all of us equally.
