Taapsee Pannu took to her social media platforms to announce a new poem on democracy, titled Samwad to mark International Democracy day.

Taapsee further reiterated the importance of freedom of speech and questioning in the caption of the Instagram video, “Because when you raise questions asking for better for your country it’s not anti national it’s coz you love your country and countrymen beyond all fears and feel it’s potential is still untapped. To the Largest Democracy of the world, let’s make sure we preserve our ‘rights’ and perform the ‘duties’.”

Throughout the video, Pannu talks of the importance of people having the agency to speak up- “Chalo naye Bharat ko banaye mahaan, na darr, na jumle, bas insaniyat ki pehchaan. Rakhein hum aisi buniyaad, ho safal, kar sabse samwad.”

The poetic project involved Tisca Chopra, Amruta Subhash, Anindita Bose, and Kireet Khurana. Yesterday, Taapsee released the poster and also mentioned the people who worked with her on the project.

The 33-year-old actor recited the poem both in Hindi and Punjabi. With Samvad, Taapsee marks her third poem on social issues. She has already released two poems on her Instagram profile- ‘Pravasi’ and ‘Safar’- on the migrant crisis.

Taapsee has always been vocal about social issues. Recently, she criticised the media for its stand in the Rhea Chakraborty and Sushant Singh Rajput’s case. She wrote on Twitter, “I didn’t know Sushant on a personal level nor do I know Rhea but what I know is, it only takes to be a human to understand how wrong it is to overtake judiciary to convict someone who isn’t proven guilty. Trust the law of the land for your sanity and the deceased’s sanctity.”
