The star-studded Met Gala 2019 event was a fashion face-off for celebrity bigwigs, looking their stylish best at the red carpet on Monday night. This year the theme was “Camp: Notes on fashion” , an Exploration of Camp, which is inspired by a seminal 1964 essay by Susan Sontag. The motive of the theme was to “To talk about Camp, taking notes on fashion.” The outfits this year could be based on “irony, humour, parody, pastiche, artifice, theatricality and exaggeration”.

Lady Gaga wears four outfits

Gaga carried four Brandon Maxwell looks all at once. A giant pink gown with a doll-like bow, a black strapless gown, a pink slip dress with giant cell phone, and finally, some lingerie with sparkly tights. It was quite a show for a minute there.

Céline Dion’s metallic bodysuit

The French Canadian singer dazzled in an outfit that took 3,000 hours to create. Her Oscar de la Renta metallic bodysuit had fringe-detailing and a plunging neckline, as reported by E-News.

Dion, 51, speaking to E! News on the red carpet, admitted that she initially didn’t understand Monday night’s theme. “At first I was a little bit confused when I heard ‘Camp’. I thought it meant ‘camping.’ We’re going camping! We’re going to be at the Met and everyone is going to stay and sleep all night together. But, no.”

According to People, Celine made her first appearance at the Gala in 2017. That year, she wore a custom Atelier Versace gown teamed with origami-inspired headpiece.

Katy Perry came as a Human Chandelier

Perry walked the 2019 Met Gala red carpet wearing a chandelier costume, with candlesticks around her head and waist. The “Firework” singer lit the internet up with the look.

“Who has ever been to a ball that did not have a chandelier?!,” Moschino designer Jeremy Scott, who created Perry’s over-the-top outfit, told Vogue.

Creative director Jeremy Scott told Page Six Style, “There probably isn’t a performer in pop history that’s used camp and humor more than she has,” Scott said of Perry. “I have guesses at what people expect from us, but I’m trying to outdo those expectations.”

Priyanka- Nick come back to where it started

Priyanka Chopra walked down the red carpet in a stunning silver gown by Dior alongside husband Nick Jonas. She attended the Gala for the third time this year with her statement gowns. The actor picked a custom made silver gown by Dior that scored high on drama. She attached a feathered-hem cape to the outfit too. She was accompanied by her husband, Nick Jonas, who complemented her in a white suit by Dior.

For those who remember, the two had met for the first time while representing fashion designer Ralph Lauren’s creations at the 2017 event.

Kim Kardashian’s nude dress

The reality TV queen arrived in an extremely form-fitting nude dress with ruched detailing along the front and a plunging neckline. The dress also featured dangling crystals.

Deepika Padukone finally goes bold

Padukone opted for a Zac Posen custom metallic pink gown with a high puffed ponytail. After her last two safe appearances, Deepika went bold this year with an exaggerated make-up, paired with an extravagant outfit.

Cardi B arrived in a ten feet gown

Her attire was ten feet of tulle and silk organza of Thom Browne. It was also topped with 30,000 burned and dyed coque feathers with a Stephen Jones x Thom Browne hat.
