Mumbai’s rising cricketer Jemimah debuted in English county cricket with the Diamonds in the Kia Super League, but couldn't resist the idea of performing for her teammates on the bus on the way back from Guildford. Maintaining a great form
Batswoman Jemimah continues her form and scored a first innings half-century against Western Storm at Taunton on Wednesday to help her team Yorkshire Diamonds to victory. She scored 60 from just 27 balls, hitting 10 fours and two sixes. Jemimah was declared woman of the match for her superb performance, making her an impressive performer in the league.
On Tuesday, against Surrey Stars, Yorkshire won by 5 wickets courtesy Jemimah who played a match-winning knock of 42 off 33 balls. This came following her match-winning century in the last match against Southern Vipers.
In the ten matches she has played for Yorkshire Diamonds so far, Jemimah has registered scores of 4, 20, 2, 28, 58, 42*, 32, 43*, 112* and 60, and has brought her T20 average to 30 in 21 innings overall. As a result, Yorkshire Diamonds now sit at the fourth position in the table, with five wins and five losses on 20 points.

How cricket happened
The young passionate girl who loved sports as a kid, found her true calling in cricket after following her brother's footsteps. She would follow him, to a cricket ground in the neighbourhood and the journey to becoming a superstar in cricket started. She was just nine when her father Ivan Rodgrigues enrolled her to the MIG Club in Bandra but the rising star only got to train with the boys.
Soon, Mumbai women's coaches and selectors spotted her when she was only 12 and secured a spot in the Mumbai U-19 cricket team for girls. She also played for the U-17 Maharashtra state hockey team.
The 18-year-old Jemimah made her international debut in February last year. She made headlines in 2017 by scoring 202 in an Under-19 One-day tournament, and has been showcasing brilliant batting style. She scored an unbeaten 77 off just 48 balls, leading the Supernovas to victory, by defeating Velocity by 12 runs and entering the final of the Women’s T20 Challenge earlier this year.

Last year Jemimah was selected in the ODI squad for India Women’s Tour to South Africa.
The teenager remained unbeaten by scoring a blazing knock of 202 runs off 163 balls in an Under-19 One-day tournament in November last year.
Earlier, she was also a part of India A team’s limited-overs home series against Bangladesh. The Mumbai all-rounder will have to work hard to secure a permanent place in the Indian Squad.
Jemimah is the second woman after Smriti Mandhana to score a double-hundred in 50-over cricket.
