Alongside Kaur, opener Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues also achieved their career-best rankings

Kaur has claimed 183 runs in the ICC World T20 and secured the third spot. West Indies' Stafanie Taylor and New Zealand's Suzie Bates claimed the second and the first spots respectively. Teenage sensation Jemimah moved up to a career-best sixth and Smriti claimed the 10th spot.

The all-rounder Kaur captained brilliantly throughout the ICC Women’s World T20 but ended up having a controversial semi-final against England last week when Mithali Raj was excluded from playing. However, Kaur's big hits helped her move up in ranking.

On Sunday, Kaur was named captain of the ICC Women's World Twenty20 XI, which also featured opener Smriti Mandhana and leg-spinner Poonam Yadav. She will also continue to play for Big Bash League franchise Sydney Thunders. Kaur has extended her association with Sydney Thunders while Smriti Mandhana has been signed up by Hobart Hurricanes for the fourth season of Women’s Big Bash League, reports PTI.

Kaur has become the second Indian cricketer to play in the league. Smriti Mandhana was the first to play in KIA, when she joined defending champions Western Storm earlier in June

In 2016, Harmanpreet Kaur became the first Indian player to sign the Big Bash League contract. She was slated to play for the Surrey Stars in last year’s competition. But she missed out because a shoulder injury she sustained in the 2017 World Cup.
