Lance Corporal Kate Sandford will be the first female trumpeter to play at the UK royal wedding today, reported Evening Standard.

29-year-old, Lance Corporal Kate Sandford, from the band of the Household Cavalry, will help sound the fanfare to mark the arrival of Meghan Markle when she takes her first steps inside St George’s Chapel in Windsor today.
Sandford is the first female State Trumpeter to play at a British royal wedding. In this process, she will make royal history. She told Evening Standard that the team feels proud and privileged to be part of the fanfare. Sandford will be joined by her husband, Lance Corporal Julian Sandford, in the elite six-person band. The State Trumpeters wear long gold coats and are seen at major state events and anniversaries.

Sandford is employed as a cornet and trumpet player. She is also the only harpist within the Corps of Army Music and is often called upon to assist other bands and orchestras. She and her husband will also be the first married couple to perform the duty. Sandford credits her confidence to her husband, who helped her immensely. She took to playing the trumpet at the age of eight and was also in her university’s brass band.
The Royal wedding is all set to take place today at Windsor Castle in England. Since Meghan Markle's father, Thomas Markle, will not be at the wedding, Kensington Palace announced on Friday that Prince Harry’s father, Prince Charles, will walk Meghan down the aisle.
