Rashami Desai is an Indian Television actress who shot to fame when she played the role of Tapasya in the daily soap Uttaran. According to reports, Desai will soon be working on OTT platforms. She will be seen with Tanuj Virwani, the actor famous for his role in web series Inside Edge and Poison. Here are things you should know about her.

  • Born on February 13, 1986, in Nagaon, Assam, Desai made her acting debut in a local Assamese film, Kanyadaan released in 2002.
  • In 2003, she made her Bollywood debut through the film Yeh Lamhe Judaai Ke.
  • Before becoming a known face of the television industry, Desai worked in Bhojpuri Film Industry also. She played a role in many films like  Balma Bada Nadaan and Gabbar Singh.
  • Rashami Desai finally made her Hindi television debut with Zee TV’s daily soap Ravan in 2006.
  • Desai got her major breakthrough when she grabbed the role of Tapasya in Colors TV’s one of the most famous daily soaps Uttaran. After Uttaran, she became a renowned face in every Indian house.
  • Rashami Desai then ventured on to make a mark in TV reality shows. She participated in dance reality show Jhalak Dikhlaja Season 5 aired in the year 2012 and became the first-runner up.
  • Later in 2015, she participated in a TV reality show, Khatron Ke Khiladi Season 6. However, she was eliminated before the Finale. In the same year, she participated in the dance reality show Nach Baliye season 7 along with her husband and co-star Nandish Sandhu. The couple emerged as the first-runner up. She participated in Big Boss Season 13 and emerged as the second-runner up.
  • In the past few months of the lockdown, Desai got appreciation for work thanks to experimentation in her roles. The looks that emerged as the favourites were those in which she was either Marathi or Bengali bride.
  • She was present in a panel discussion on "Telling Women's Stories and Why They Are Important at SheThePeople Summit. At the time she talked of her dream roles. "I would love to play the role of Indira Gandhi and Kasturba Gandhi in future."
