On the occasion of completing 20 years in the entertainment industry, Priyanka Chopra took to Instagram to express her feelings. She posted a video last night, talking about three ‘amazing, complex characters’ which she portrayed. Those three characters were Kashi Bai from Bajirao Mastaani, Susanna from 7 Khoon Maaf and Jhilmil from Barfi.

In the post she wrote about how she played these challenging roles at different points in time ‘with depth, conflict and resilience’. Furthermore, she thanked the directors Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Vishal Bharadwaj and Anurag Basu for giving her the oppurtunity.

Kashi Bai from Bajirao Mastani

Talking about the character, Priyanka Chopra wrote, “Bold, loyal & fierce…Kashibai was one of the most endearing characters I’ve played. Thank you Sanjay sir and everyone on the team for bringing Kashi into my life. Her grace under fire is still so inspiring to me.”

Priyanka essayed the role of Peshwa General Bajirao Ballal’s first wife Kashi’s role with élan. Moreover, the audience were seemingly drawn more towards the suffering of Kashi than the love-story of the titular couple.

Susanna From 7 Khoon Maaf

About Susanna, she wrote, “7 Khoon Maaf…a dark comedy with a woman protagonist who is looking for true love and tries to find it 7 times, but in the end, is still lonely. Thank you Vishal Sir for giving me Susanna – complex, immersive, impulsive yet vulnerable.”

She essayed a sheer dark and shady character of a ‘Black Widow’ serial killer in the adaptation of Ruskin Bond’s Susanna’s Seven Husbands.

Jhilmil From Barfi!

Priyanka captioned about Jhilmil, “To play Jhilmil, a girl with Autism was a serious responsibility. But under Anurag sir’s tutelage, she turned out to be honest, raw and brought me so much joy.”

Undoubtedly one of her iconic performances, she played the character of the specially-abled girl with utmost excellence. The audience and critics immensely lauded Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka’s poignant yet heart-warming portrayal of their challenging roles, bringing out emotional complexity and depth in the movie.
