Payal Ghosh Finally Apologises

Payal Ghosh submitted her “unconditional apology” in the Bombay High Court to Richa Chadha, following which the defamation suit against her was disposed of. Chadha had filed a defamation suit against Ghosh, who in September had accused filmmaker Anurag Kashyap of sexual assault and mentioned her name in interviews while talking about the alleged incident. In response, Chadha alleged that the actress had made a "false, baseless, indecent and derogatory statement" against her. Chadha had also demanded monetary compensation of Rs 1.1 crore damages. The suit has been dropped after both the parties settled.

However, after the settlement, Ghosh took to her Twitter account yesterday and wrote, "No one wins no one lost. It’s a case of win-win.''

The Fukrey star Chadha's team recently issued a statement after Payal Ghosh tendered an apology before Bombay HC. The statement read, ''Richa Chadha is elated with the outcome of the Case and is thankful to the Hon'ble Bombay High Court."

The statement further revealed that the Bombay HC has accepted the consent terms "as an undertaking to the Hon'ble Court in the Suit with Payal Ghosh giving Richa Chadha an unconditional apology and withdrawal of all statements defamatory posts also including videos and also agreeing not to state, make, publish, republish any defamatory, insulting, humiliating statements against Richa Chadda related to the subject matter of the Suit and/or any issue, dispute, complaint, suit, action, controversy, nefarious activity and/or criminal activity between Payal Ghosh and any person/party,'' it further added that "'the case with Kamaal R Khan continues."

On 23 September, Ghosh lodged an FIR at Mumbai's Versova police station accusing Kashyap of raping her in 2013. During a TV interview to a Telugu channel, the actor had claimed, "You have given chance to Richa Chadha, Mahie Gill, Huma Qureshi... they are so nominal looking girls. Generally, directors don't give them chance but you have done a great job. But I am not mentally prepared for this right now," she claimed to have told Kashyap during an alleged encounter as the filmmaker had referred to Chadha as someone who was "just a call away".
