Actor Payal Ghosh, who recently accused director Anurag Kashyap of sexual misconduct, thanked Kangana Ranaut and senior BJP leader Roopa Ganguly for their support. Acknowledging the same, Ghosh wrote on Twitter, “We are women and we can together bring all of them down.”

Payal Ghosh Acknowledges Support

On September 21, senior actor and politician Roopa Ganguly reshared ANI’s tweet chronicling her protests against Bollywood’s alleged promotion of drugs abuse and humiliation of female actresses in the Parliament premises. She tagged Payal Ghosh and wrote, “Save Women.” Thanking her, Ghosh replied, “Thanks for your support ma’am.”

On Sunday, Ranaut also tweeted in support of Ghosh. The Manikarnika actress wrote, “Bullywood is full of sexual predators who have fake and dummy marriages they expect a new hot young girl to make them happy everyday, they do the same to young vulnerable men also,I have settled my scores my way I don’t need #MeToo but most girls do #PayalGhosh #AnuragKashyap” Payal Ghosh thanked Ranuat for her support and wrote:

On September 19, Ghosh appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take action against Anurag Kashyap via a tweet. Following this, Rekha Sharma, the chairperson of the National Commission of Women (NCW), asked her to send a detailed complaint to the commission.

#MeToo Allegations Against Anurag Kashyap

Reportedly, in a detailed interview on Saturday, Ghosh accused Anurag Kashyap of sexually harassing her during the shooting of the movie Bombay Velvet. She also named three other actresses - Richa Chadha, Huma Qureshi, and, Maahie Gill in the same interview.

Subsequently, Kashyap denied all charges against him in a Twitter post. His ex-wives, film editor Aarti Bajaj and actor Kalki Koechlin, also defended him against the allegations. Notably, other Bollywood actresses like Taapsee Pannu, Saiyami Kher, Tisca Chopra, and Radhika Apte have also come out in the director's support. Currently, Kashyap and Chadha have resorted to legal recourse in this matter.

Recently, Ghosh also replied to those accusing her of false allegations. She tweeted: “People blame women for everything and post smash the patriarchy. It's time to stand with the women. Let them be heard. A voice suppressed is a generation of women oppressed. It's 2020. Come on, India! #MeToo.”
