Actor Suchitra Krishnamoorthi said she was “aghast” that no men from the film industry have been summoned by NCB in their probe into alleged Bollywood drug nexus.

Opining that the entire culture of misogyny needs a reset, Krishnamoorthi pointed out on Twitter how “no men were named & called for #ncbprobe – only the women shamed.”

In the drug probe linked to actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case, the Narcotics Control Bureau has summoned only women actors so far. Last week, Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Shraddha Kapoor, and Rakul Preet Singh were summoned for questioning. Singh and celebrity fashion designer Simone Khambatta faced the agency officials on Friday, while Padukone, Khan and Kapoor appear for questioning on Saturday.

Where are the male actors?

As soon as the NCB issued summons to these women actors, the Twitterati was quick to note the absence of men from this list. This isn’t the first time Krishnamoorthi has spoken up about the controversy that surrounds Bollywood this year.

Recently the Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa actor had also revealed to India Today that she was told by a KWAN representative that all she needed to make a comeback into films was to show up at the parties organised by Karan Johar.

“As I was talking to the book agent, this lady who also handles acting, she said that Ma’am why aren’t you acting and so I said my daughter is too small, we will see. She said no ma’am it’s easy and you just have to do a few things to come back into the limelight because you are too silent. One of the main things is that you need to be seen at Karan Johar’s parties,” she revealed.

Dharma Productions owner Karan Johar’s name popped up the drug nexus case last week when a viral video from 2019 was circulated again on social media. In the video, several Bollywood personalities can be seen at a party hosted by Johar. It is being alleged that drugs were consumed at the said party. Two persons with links to his production company are also reportedly being probed in the case.

Johar denied all the allegations in a statement, also clarifying, ” “Several media/news channels have been airing news reports that Kshitij Prasad and Anubhav Chopra are my ‘aides’/’close aides’. I would like to place on record that I do not know these individuals personally and neither of these two individuals are ‘aides’ or ‘close aides’.” Read more on this here.
