Netflix To Premiere ‘The Girl On The Train’ Starring Parineeti Chopra On Feb 26; Priyanka Chopra Tweets ‘proud of my girl’

Netflix is all set to premiere The Girl on the Train starring Parineeti Chopra on February 26, 2021.

The Girl on the Train follows Parineeti Chopra as Meera who develops an obsessive attachment with the perfect lives of a couple while she travels on a train daily. A certain day, Meera notices something unusual which leaves her in shock. The film follows her journey as she tries to unearth the truth.

The platform has acquired the rights for the film from Reliance Entertainment. As reported by Variety, directed by Ribhu Dasgupta the film is an adaptation of Paula Hawkins’ 2015 bestseller. The film also has Aditi Rao Hydari, Kirti Kulhari, and Avinash Tiwary.

Dasgupta, who previously directed the Netflix original Bard of Blood, produced by Red Chillies said that he always wanted to explore this particular genre of thriller stories.  He further said that he loves this unique story of relatable emotions of rejection, loneliness and voyeurism that build this mystery.

Originally, the film was to be released on screen in May 2020 but it got delayed due to the outbreak of the  COVID-19 pandemic.  However, Chopra shared a glimpse of the film on her Instagram in November 2019.

Netflix India director and content acquisition Pratiksha Rao said, “We are excited to deliver ‘The Girl On The Train’ to our members in India and around the world.” Rao revealed that this film will be a huge addition to the incredible and diverse selection of films on Netflix across many languages.

“ ‘The Girl On The Train’ marks our first film collaboration with Netflix. But there are many more to come,” said Reliance Entertainment group chief executive officer Shibasish Sarkar.

A 2016 Hollywood version starring Emily Blunt, and directed by Tate Taylor, was produced by Amblin Partners, DreamWorks, Marc Platt Productions, and Reliance Entertainment.
