The Crown's Suzanne Mackie Sets Up New Production House, Strikes Exclusive Deal With Netflix

Based in London, Suzanne Mackie's Orchid Pictures would work across television and films, developing exclusive content for Netflix.

UK's top dram producer, known for her association with the hit Netflix original series The Crown, Suzanne Mackie, has parted her ways with the show's producer Left Bank Pictures. Mackie has now set up her own independent production company, Orchid Pictures.

Suzanne Mackie joined Left Bank Pictures in the year 2009 and was promoted to the position of creative director in 2012, according to Variety. Mackie has is said to have played a crucial role in The Crown's success since the beginning of the show. As per reports, she will remain the executive producer on upcoming seasons five and six for the show as well.

Suzanne Mackie said, "Starting my own company felt like an exciting next chapter in my career. The opportunity of further deepening my collaboration with Netflix presented an immensely exciting opportunity," Deadline reported.

Praising Mackie's work, Andy Harries, Left Bank CEO said, "I Have enjoyed an amazing journey with Suzanne from Mad Dogs to Misbehaviour with lots of The Crown on top! She is smart, wise and has great taste. I have no doubt she will create some classy new shows for Netflix as well as riding sidesaddle with us on The Crown.”

Based in London, Orchid would work across television and films. Moreover, Mackie will continue working with Netflix through Orchid, developing exclusive content for the streaming platform.

Mackie said, “I am delighted that I can continue the onward journey of ‘The Crown’ with Peter Morgan, Left Bank Pictures and the rest of ‘The Crown’ team whilst building Orchid Pictures; ‘The Crown’ has become a significant part of my life.”

Mackie is an active member of the BFI, National Film and Television School, BAFTA.
