According to a report by Vanity Fair, this means that Gadot is getting 33 times larger paycheque for the Wonder Woman sequel. Gadot was also among the highest-paid female actors in the world last year, according to Forbes, making $34 million.

"The success of the first Wonder Woman film — for which Gadot was paid only $300,000, a figure that caused outrage in some circles as it paled in comparison to what many male action stars take home — helped catapult her onto the list of the highest-paid actresses in Hollywood," her Vanity Fair profile read.

The second instalment in the franchise will again feature Gal Gadot as the fierce Amazon warrior Daina Prince. She shared the trailer for her upcoming film in August 2020.

In her recent interview, she explained why it is important for any girl to believe that she can dream. "I think it’s so important—and of course it’s ultra-important for me because I’m a mother of two girls—to show them the potential of what they can be. And it doesn’t necessarily mean that they have to be athletic or physically strong—that too—but that they can be bigger than life," she said about playing a woman superhero.

Pay disparity still exists

Gadot's paycheck was bigger this time, however, it is still less than half of what some leading male action stars are paid in Hollywood. For instance, Robert Downey Jr was paid just $500000 for his starring role in the first Iron Man film in 2008. However, his salary was raised to $50 million for the first Avengers film. He was paid around $80 million for Avengers: Age of Ultron. Chris Evans was paid $1 million for the first Captain America film and in Captain America: Civil War, he made $15 million. Meanwhile, Chris Hemsworth was paid $150000 for his first Thor film but made $15 million for Thor: Ragnarok.

The pay gap is however not limited to superhero films. According to a 2019 report by The Guardian, male actors in Hollywood earn a million dollars more per film than their similarly experienced women co-stars.
