Christopher Nolan’s Tenet has made Dimple Kapadia more confident, says the veteran actress herself. Kapadia, who took the social media by storm last year when she became a part of legendary filmmaker Nolan’s big-budget Hollywood film, says that her process of working is through “fear and nervousness,” and that she doesn’t know “how the process unfolds after that,” IANS reported. She also added that whatever the situation is she then relies on her “instinct and the director completely”. Tenet releases in India on December 4.
Kapadia plays the character Priya, in a film that is dubbed as “an action epic evolving from the world of international espionage.” The film also features Robert Pattinson and Michael Caine in lead roles.
“My takeaway (after working in the film) is a hell of a lot. It has completely changed my mental make-up. It has made me more confident, wanting to do better roles, work more and made me more positive. It has made me believe in myself finally…” she said calling the experience “a beautiful dream that has come true.”
Kapadia’s manager had earlier revealed to Mid-day, “Dimple has never auditioned before. So I had to sit her down and make her understand that the idea of casting people, basis their taped auditions, is to understand if they fit the part. But they are respectful when someone is reluctant and are willing to watch tapes of their previous work.”
Her daughter and author Twinkle Khanna tweeted:
And on a personal note – Congratulations Mother! So so proud of you ! You are truly amazing and you set an example for all of us that age is not an obstacle in the path of ability and talent #Hurrah https://t.co/TJJzI6sYvi

‘Exploring the shades of grey’
Recently, she spoke about her character in the film and said, “It was lovely (exploring the shades of grey). It was a very lovely surprise, and the way it was written. It is written so beautifully that half the battle is won right there.”

Talking about Nolan, the 63-year-old star said, “I was hesitating to do the film because I was not comfortable with myself and my capabilities but after doing a Nolan film, I realised, I didn’t have to worry because he takes care of everything.”
Kapadia made her debut with 1973 blockbuster Bobby. She stunned the audiences in the ’70s and ’80s with diverse roles in movies like Janbaaz(1986) and Rudaali, for which she got the National Award in 1993. She was also seen in Dil Chahta Hai (2001) Being Cyrus (2006) and Angrezi Medium (2020).
