'Chak De! India' Actor Rio Kapadia Dies At 66; Tributes Pour In

Veteran actor Rio Kapadia, known for his roles in movies like Chak De India, Dil Chahta Hai, and Mardaani, passed away at the age of 66 on September 14.Β

His friend, Faisal Malik, confirmed the news to India Today. Kapadia is survived by his wife, Maria Farah, and their children, Aman and Veer. The cremation ceremony for Rio Kapadia is scheduled for September 15 at Shiv Dham Shamshan Bhumi in Goregaon. The cause of his demise has not been disclosed yet, and many are expressing their condolences on social media.

In addition to his film career, Rio Kapadia also appeared in the television series Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke. He also portrayed the role of King Subala of Gandhara, Gandhari's father, in Siddharth Tewary's Mahabharat.

Kapadia was an advocate for actors' rights in the television industry and encouraged fellow actors to support one another. In 2012, he spoke out about the challenges faced by actors in the industry after being replaced by another actor in a prominent role in a show. His most recent appearance was in one of the episodes of the Prime Video series Made in Heaven Season 2.
