Actor Tisca Chopra Turns Director With Short Film 'Rubaru'

Apart from directing, Tisca Chopra is also co-producing the film.

Tisca Chopra Rubaru film, women over 50

After turning producer and writer with the acclaimed short film Chutney, actress Tisca Chopra has now turned into a director. She is making her directorial debut with a short film Rubaru. The film is expected to release on 28th November 2020.

Announcing her upcoming film, trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "ACTRESS TISCA CHOPRA TURNS DIRECTOR... Actress #TiscaChopra has turned director... Her directorial debut #Rubaru - a short film - will release on 28 Nov 2020... Stars #Tisca, #ArjunMathur and #ChitrashiRawat."

Chopra is also co-producing the film with Vipul D Shah. Apart from directing, Chopra will also be starring in the film alongside Made In Heaven star Arjun Mathur and Chitrashi Rawat from Chak De! India.

Tisca Chopra had shared a teaser from the short film on her Instagram account recently. "The pain behind performances ..The inside story from behind the scenes ..Directed by yours truly (feeling a strange frisson)," she wrote in her post.

In yet another post today, Chopra shared the poster of Rubaru, with the caption, "She is desperate.. she is losing everything she has worked for.. And her confidence .. But is she losing her 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝 too?#𝐑𝐮𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐮 .. behind the scenes of an actor’s life, the pain behind performance.."

At SheThePeople’s Bombaywaali event in 2017, Chopra had spoken about her journey into films and shared that growing up in Noida and later moving to Bombay was a culture shock for her. She had recalled saying that Bombay was an entirely new experience for her and Bollywood in the 90s wasn’t what she expected. She had realised that there were not many interesting roles for women. “The kind of acting required so much makeup that if you took the makeup out, it could act by itself!” she had said. A versatile actress, Chopra has impressed the audience with her work in movies like Taare Zameen Par, Rahasya, and Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji. She was recently seen in Good Newwz alongside Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor Khan. She also stars in a web series titled Hostages with Ronit Bose Roy. Her book, Acting Smart was published by Harper Collins in 2014.
