Welcome to the SheThePeople Book Club, Pune Edition in partnership with British Council. 

We, at SheThePeople, have always been enthusiastic proponents of the need to develop and encourage a reading culture, and a community that encourages reading for pleasure as well as learning. To further this objective, we’re delighted to launch the SheThePeople Book Club, where we hope to bring together people from diverse backgrounds and interests, bound together by their love for books and reading. 

British Council Pune provides a wide range of opportunities for continuous personal and professional development through Library Services, English language learning, and other events. Our library has a collection of books, magazines, newspapers, and DVDs. Our book and journal collection covers subjects such as literature, English language, Arts, exam preparation books, books for professional development and children’s books.

Topic: Detective fiction writing: The UK Connect

Agatha Christie was one of the pioneers of detective fiction writing with mass appeal. In our first book club event, we aim to bring detective fiction into the spotlight with Pune writer Manjiri Prabhu. How are characters developed, the nuts and bolts of writing with examples of other UK pioneers such as Enid Blyton, Ronald Dahl and even the awesome Jane Austen!
