From a Female Perspective: Being a Woman Journalist in India 

Women are an integral part of the newspapers we read, the radio we listen to, the television we watch, the magazines we peruse. So what is it like to be a woman journalist working in modern day India? Three veteran female journalists from Bangalore discuss the joys and pitfalls of their chosen profession. From news to features, print and television to microblogging, these women have done it all, so come hear their stories.

Ammu Joseph is an independent journalist and author of six books, including three on gender & media. Having taught at several institutions of media education, she is a founder-member of the Network of Women in Media, India, as well as Media Watch Bengaluru.

Ruth Dsouza Prabhu started out as a TV programming producer and moved to features editor at a reputed daily. She now freelances for print and online publications, with specific niches in the food and beverage, interiors, lifestyle and health.

Shrabonti Bagchi has been a writer and editor for over 15 years. She has worked at The Times of India, TOI Crest, The Telegraph, DNA and FactorDaily, writing on society, books, art, music, food, and technology. Currently, she is an independent writer and editor working towards her maiden book project.

Dhanya Rajendran is the Editor-in-Chief at www.thenewsminute.com. A graduate of the Asian College of Journalism (ACJ), many of her reports on human rights violations and corruption resulted in national investigations including two by the country’s apex agency the CBI.
