The Muslimah Sex Manual: A Halal Guide to Mind Blowing Sex, is a new book which encourages women to celebrate sexuality and take the lead in their physical relationships.
The author has published the book under the alias of Umm Muladhat. She writes about sexual options, and urges women to believe that they can be sexually satisfied, and that they can have a full range of sexual experiences.
The author got the idea for the book after her newly married Muslim friend started complaining about her sex life. The friend was from the medical field, and knew all about the relevant biology, the author wrote on her website.
"She could draw and label all the parts of male and female anatomy... and knew the legal rulings of menstruation and intercourse,” she wrote. “But she didn’t know sex.”
The author then started conducting informal workshops to find out how much interest there would be in this subject. One month later, she saw her friend again, and this time she had a gigantic smile on her face.
“Please, write this down and share it with other Muslim girls. No one teaches this. We’re thrown into marriage and only know the fiqh and the biology,” her friend told her.
She has kept her name hidden, because she is afraid of trolling and backlash. She has revealed that she is American and has studied psychology. The author has said that there are tentative plans to create a follow-up book for men.
