Kajol on motherhood, Nysa Devgn 18th birthday, Nysa bollywood debut

Kajol’s daughter Nysa is just 16 years-old and many, including the media are already waiting with bated breath for her Bollywood debut. Nysa belongs to the crop of popular star kids who spent their initial years away from the glare of paparazzi, unlike young Taimur, only to be hounded in their teens. Their huge social media following, and popularity is a result of their famous parentage. But this parentage also brings incessant trolling and pressure for these kids to follow their parent's footsteps. So, one can understand why Kajol would want the media to cut her daughter some slack.

KEY TAKEAWAYS:

  • Kajol has asked the media to leave her 16 year-old old daughter alone.
  • The media asked her when was Nysa planning to make her Bollywood debut.
  • While the common public is hoarse from crying nepotism, the obsession with star kids' film debut doesn't go away.
  • Whether or not Nysa chooses to work in films and when, is a decision for her and her parents to discuss about.

Nysa belongs to the crop of popular star kids who were lucky enough to spend their initial years away from the glare of paparazzi, unlike young Taimur, only to be hounded in their teens.

During a media interaction recently, Kajol was asked about Nysa's Bollywood aspirations, reports DNA. To which the actor replied, “She is just 16 years-old. I think you (media and people) can give her a break and some space. Recently, she has celebrated her 16th birthday. Right now, she is studying in 10th standard and she is preparing for her board exams." This isn’t the first time Nysa’s parents had to literally plead people to be kinder to their daughter and leave her alone.

In February this year Nysa was subjected to massive and ruthless trolling on social media for her airport look. To this her father Ajay Devgn had said, “I don’t know what kind of people these are and because of them we are paying the price. I request the paparazzi to at least leave the children alone. Why are they paying the price for their famous parents? I don’t think any child is okay with paparazzi. They want their space. They want to not dress up every time they step out, so it’s very sad when such things happen.”

One would think that all our exasperation and criticism would project a picture of aversion to start kid debuts, but perhaps there are millions who still root for them.

It is laughable that while the public is hoarse from crying nepotism with every star kid debut that is inflicted upon us, the media just can’t resist asking parents of such children about their impending foray into films. One would think that all our exasperation and criticism would project a picture of aversion to start kid debuts, but perhaps there are millions who still root for them. They want to see the daughter of Kajol and Ajay or son of Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan on silver screen. After all, kids may not inherit acting chops from their parents, they sure inherit popularity, which rides on the back of curiosity.

However, there is a time and place, and in Nysa’s case an age for such questions. The girl not even out of school, isn’t it too soon to build anticipation and expectation around a teen? Shouldn’t she be given space to make up her mind about what she wants to do? Why can’t we stop behaving like pestering padosis, who wouldn’t stop asking what your child wants to do after finishing school?

Whether or not Nysa will pursue acting after finishing her studies, is an issue for her and her parents to discuss among themselves. If and when that time does come, am sure we all will be duly notified. Till then, let us leave these children alone and let them be carefree. Knowing what waits for them if they do decide to follow their parent’s footsteps, they deserve some time away from criticism, and intense and never-ending scrutiny.
