The guest that evening was the dynamic actor Richa Chadha. She is an actress known for her roles in movies like Gangs of Wasseypur, Masaan, etc. Her ability to engage with the audience was tremendous. I am recapping the gup shup with Richa Chadha on the good, bad and the lovely.

EARLY START

She was happily narrating her stories related to her college life, how moving to Bombay was a turning point for her and the types of people she had to deal with all around the way.

I respect the fact that she is absolutely self- made and is still very grounded. She grew up in Delhi to a middle class, educated family and came to Mumbai to study in Sophia’s College. While speaking about filming and casting, she told us that passion is what lacks in the industry and even if she were working with an unknown director in Andaman and Nicobar island, she would give in a 100% at her work.

THE STRUGGLE

Her struggle was real. She was very naïve and because of being too thin, she was picked on by her relatives. She told us that for a success party at a movie, like any girl, she too bought a dress, paired them up with heels and applied make up but people didn’t thing she was well groomed.

After years in this industry, she admits that she has become a little picky about playing roles in a movie. If she doesn’t like the script, she would not want to work in that movie.

She also told us that while she was on TEDx Talks, most of the people wanted her to write a book for them and she said yes to everyone, until one fine day, she was sent a cheque. So now we might see a book written by her?

Every 6 months, she feels that she is a new person and is accepting everything that life has to offer her.

BACK STABBING IN BOLLYWOOD

While asked about the people she has dealt with, she told us that she has come across many people who are good to her but have back stabbed her. Every 6 months, she feels that she is a new person and is accepting everything that life has to offer her. We have to adapt to the changes.

She was also very excited to talk about her upcoming movie with Kalki Kochelin, which was shot in Sweden. It’s about 2 girls that go to Sweden, one with her first 10 lakhs and the other with her last 10 lakhs.

I think being an actor is really hard, especially when you are in the public eye all the time. We humans go through all kinds of emotions and I feel that for actors, it is so much harder as they receive hate and nasty comments from everyone. Therefore, it’s not easy for them to for trying to show the whole world that they are happy.

Despite being sick, she fulfilled her commitments of coming for the talk show, answering questions that came from people and taking pictures with them. That shows the level of professionalism in her. People told her how much they adored her and complimented her for being grounded even after success hit her.
