The U.S. soccer standout and the co-captain of the winning soccer team at the Women’s World Cup final in France, Megan Rapinoe won the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Player of the year award on Monday at Milan. This is the consecutive success after the tremendous victory of Rapinoe’s team at Women’s World Cup in July where the team won its second world cup title. Rapinoe is now the fourth American woman to have won the title of the player of the year. Besides, Jill Ellis won her second global coach award, the first she grabbed when the team won the 2015 World Cup title.

A Wall of Shoes to Raise Awareness about Domestic Violence in Turkey

A Turkish artist, Vahit Tuna, exhibited an open-air art installation in which he hung 440 black heels to symbolize the deaths of women in Turkey in 2018 due to domestic violence. The exhibition was a part of Yankose- a not-for-profit arts platform started in 2017 by Kahve Dunyasi, a Turkish coffee chain. The shoes have been hung on two installation walls of the building hosting the Kahve Dunyasi branch in  Istanbul’s Kabatas neighbourhood in Beyoglu district. It was exhibited earlier this month and will remain until six months.

Vinesh Phogat Wins Maiden Medal, Qualifies For Olympics 2020

Vinesh Phogat World Championships

Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat has clenched her maiden medal at Wrestling World Championship and has become only the fourth Indian woman to win the medal. She won a bronze medal bout of 53-Kg freestyle event against two-time world bronze medalist Maria Prevolaraki of Greece. Besides, she has also secured a 53-kg quota in the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
