With the Atrangi Re release date getting closer, fans were treated to the first looks of stars Sara Ali Khan, Akshay Kumar and Dhanush on Tuesday. Introducing their 'atrangi' characters, the cast revealed the trailer for the Aanand L Rai-directed musical drama will drop tomorrow.

The film describes itself as a "love called madness." Khan plays the role of Rinku, a girl from Bihar, who, in the actor's own words, is the "heart" of the film. It marks the first time Khan will be seen in a double role. Dhanush's character is named Vishu, while Kumar's role remains unnamed, save for the identification that he is "adding magic to this story."
Atrangi Re is going for a direct OTT release on streaming platform Disney+ Hotstar. After the 2013 film Raanjhanaa, this is the second collaboration between Rai and Dhanush and AR Rahman. The latter has composed music and score for the upcoming release.
Atrangi Re Release: What You Should Know
The film was officially announced last year in January but saw multiple delays in production owing to the rise in COVID-19 cases and stars like Kumar contracting the virus. The original theatrical release date for Atrangi Re was set for February 14, 2021, marking Valentine's Day.
It is now getting a digital release on December 24.
Rai in an interview has said the film is close to his heart and "more than just a love triangle." All praises for Khan, he said the 26-year-old is a "cracker" in the film and fits the energy of the character she plays. Fans have especially loved Khan's usual poetic manner of introducing the 'atrangis' in the film.
