The first show of Mamma Mia! the musical was performed in 1999, in the West End at the Prince Edward Theatre, but after September 2012, it shifted to NovelloTheatre.

Written by Catherine Johnson, it revolves around a woman named Donna who has a daughter, Sophie who is about to get married. Donna in the past had three lovers and the confusion arises when she does not know out of the three who is the father of her daughter and this goes on to create a lot of confusion.

Such is the popularity of the play that it has been adapted into a film by the same name, that released in 2008, starring Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgård and Amanda Seyfried.
