A woman who recently went missing from Vijayawada International Airport in Andhra Pradesh upon her return from Kuwait has been found by the state police. The woman, identified as Salasatti Durga, had reportedly gone missing on December 16 after her international return. After her failure to reach home, her husband Satyanarayana lodged a police complaint, which prompted a search for her. The Andhra Pradesh police located her at an acquaintance’s house, where she had gone from the airport, and took her back to her husband’s place.
According to The New Indian Express, 32-year-old Durga had been situated in Kuwait for the last two years, with her husband back in India. According to her husband, “Durga arrived at the Gannavaram Airport around 6:50 pm from Kuwait on December 16.” He was reportedly unaware of her whereabouts until a WhatsApp text from Durga’s friend alerted him of her arrival in the state. When she didn’t reach the village, Satyanarayana lodged a missing complaint on Sunday with the Gannavaram police.
Background on the missing woman case
According to reports, the couple has two children. Durga redirected to an acquaintance’s house following her Kuwait return since she was having some “issues” with her husband. Inspector K Sivaji, Gannavaram Circle Inspector (CI), was quoted saying, “We provided counselling to the couple and sent them to their home at Nelaturu village in West Godavari district.”
Durga was reportedly recorded at the Vijayawada Airport by CCTV cameras upon arrival, “carrying a stroller with two big luggages and handbags.” However, cameras could not track any movement of her coming out of the terminal. “We have verified the CCTV footage at the airport and found Durga arriving and checking out of the terminal,” Sivaji had said.
Durga’s husband had allegedly even raised doubts over one person who could be involved in the case of his missing wife. She was found at a friend’s house in Kadapa, and was quoted saying, “The police came to me on Monday morning. They brought me here and provided counselling to me and my husband.”
