6-Year-Old Bhopal Girl Gangraped: In a shocking incident that took place in Bhopal, a 6-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her maternal uncle and maternal grandfather.

  1. A 6-year-old girl in Bhopal was allegedly gangraped by her 20-year-old maternal uncle and 48-year-old maternal grandfather. While the maternal uncle was a distant relative, the old man was her biological grandfather. The assault took place about 7 to 8 days before the girl told her mother about it.
  2. On Thursday, when the girl’s mother returned from work around 6 p.m., she told her that she had washed her clothes. The latter was a bit puzzled and worried because the child had not been behaving normally for the last few days.
  3. When the child’s mother started counselling her, she feared being chided. However, slowly opened up about the harrowing incident.
  4. The child revealed that around 7-8 days earlier, her maternal uncle took her and her 3-year-old brother to a relative’s house on the pretext of giving them some snacks.
  5. On reaching there, she found that her maternal grandfather was already present there. They allegedly took turns to sexually abuse her in front of her brother toddler and gave her Rs. 20 to keep mum. After buying the children some snacks, they drove them home.
  6. The shocked mother reported the incident to her husband. A complaint was then lodged against the two relatives, who were later arrested in the investigation.
  7. The accused were confident that the victim would not open up about the ordeal but she reported itching in her private parts. On being questioned, the accused confessed the crime.
  8. The police then arrested both the accused persons, one of them named Sanjay Tomar. They have also started investigating other victims who have been targeted in the same way by the accused.
  9. Both men are in the custody of the police under the POSCO Act and IPC.
  10. The victim’s identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per the directives of the Supreme Court on sexual assault-related cases.
