3 Idiots

The most classic movie of all time, 3 Idiots has a special place in our hearts. We all saw ourselves in Farhan, Raju and Rancho, struggling and somehow surviving through college life. No other movie has as many life lessons as 3 Idiots. Do I even need to tell you the plot? Well, here it is – Two friends Raju and Farhan in search of their long-lost friend whose existence seems rather elusive now, revisit their college days and recall the memories of their mate who pushed them to think differently, in spite of the rest of the world calling them "idiots". And it’s humorous as hell. But it's also awakening.

In fact, the film raises many important questions around the stressful college education system in India which creates undue pressure on students to match unreasonable standards of studies and requires them to keep up with everything. And who do we have for moral support by our side all this while, the one and only – our friends. Want to cry your heart out? Go watch 3 Idiots again for the nth time and thank me later for reminding.

Wake up Sid

The film essays the story of a selfish and lazy college student from Mumbai, Siddharth Mehra, who is apparently a spoilt brat until he encounters Aisha, an aspiring young writer from Kolkata in the city of dreams.

After meeting Aisha, his perspective and approach towards life completely changes. This young guy who was so laid back suddenly becomes all responsible and starts understanding the importance of being on your own. Sid learns the true meaning and essence of life from Aisha and eventually ends up falling in love with her.

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

Another classic Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara is still fresh in our memory from 2011. Three Friends Kabir, Imran and Arjun finally take their fantasy vacation, which they had planned years ago, to Spain for Kabir’s bachelorette before his marriage.

The trip turns into a much-awaited opportunity for them to resolve past differences, heal wounds, make amends and fall in love with life. And most importantly, battle their worst fears. Nobody can deny feeling an unsaid connection to this one when they first watched it.

English Vinglish

This movie is all kinds of beautiful and more. Shashi, an unabashed housewife and caterer, is usually mocked by her family, mainly her well-educated husband and daughter for not being able to understand and speak English. In her attempt to learn the language, she makes many friends and encounters experiences that transform her in wonderful ways. This is Shashi’s story of rediscovering and redefining herself, and ultimately reasserting her value as a wife and a mother. It's inspiring to the core and I know you will love her. Her journey in a foreign country has a big role of the friends she makes there.

Kai Po Che

Set against the backdrop of the 2002 Gujarat riots, this film is a rollercoaster ride of emotions, having the feeling of friendship in the cornerstone. Residing in the Indian city of Ahmedabad, three friends who have a calling for cricket start an academy to train aspiring cricketers at the turn of the millennium.

But before they could accomplish their dreams, they experience an earthquake, communal riots and political instability in the state, all at once.
