A Humble Beginning: Roots and Resilience

Born and raised in Garut, a conservative region in West Java Province, the members of Voice of Baceprot—Firda Kurnia, Marsya, Euis Siti Aisyah (Sitti), and Widi Rahmati—hail from modest backgrounds. Their upbringing, steeped in traditional Islamic values and agricultural life, provided a stark contrast to their eventual journey into the world of heavy metal music.

Their path to musical stardom began unexpectedly when they crossed paths with Cep Ersa Eka Susila Satia, affectionately known as "Abah Ersa." Initially nudged towards theatre, the girls found their true calling in music, inspired by the rhythms of System of a Down's "Toxicity." Under Abah Ersa's guidance, they perfected their craft, covering iconic metal anthems and garnering audiences with their raw talent.

Breaking Barriers and Confronting Criticism

However, their journey was fraught with challenges. In a society where traditional gender norms reign supreme, Voice of Baceprot faced backlash and condemnation. As devout Muslims wearing hijabs, their foray into the male-dominated realm of heavy metal was met with disdain and hostility. They were branded as rebels, with even their school labelling them as societal outcasts.

Redefining Empowerment Through Music

Despite the adversity, Voice of Baceprot remained undeterred, using their music as a platform to challenge stereotypes and empower marginalized voices. With lyrics that transcend language barriers and resonate with audiences worldwide, they've become symbols of resilience and defiance, inspiring countless young women to embrace their authenticity and stand tall in the face of adversity.

On To Global Recognition

Their unwavering dedication and unparalleled talent have not gone unnoticed. Praised by music icons like Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine, Voice of Baceprot has transcended borders, gaining a reputation on a global scale. Their international tours in the US, France, and the Netherlands have showcased the universality of their message, garnering admiration and acclaim from diverse audiences.

Yet, amidst their rise to fame, Voice of Baceprot continues to confront challenges, particularly in navigating cultural crossroads. In a society grappling with shifting ideologies and conservative interpretations of Islam, the band's unapologetic embrace of individuality and empowerment has sparked controversy and condemnation.

A Vision for the Future: Advocacy and Activism Through Music

Despite the obstacles, Voice of Baceprot remains steadfast in its commitment to advocating for social change and environmental sustainability. With each electrifying performance and poignant lyric, they strive to amplify the voices of the marginalized and inspire a generation to forge a brighter, more inclusive future.
