Vickie Milazzo, author of the new book ‘Wicked Success Is Inside Every Woman,’ believes that it’s a great time to be a working woman. Even with the wage gap, and the lack of women in C-suite positions; the changing economy is now realizing the importance and the impact of the traits and qualities that come naturally to women.

The socially driven culture demands leaders who are good at participating, engaging, collaborating, relationship-building and believe in working for greater good. Millazo believes, “Inside every woman are the skills and forces necessary for being successful today…Ninety percent of success is showing up. Whether you’re selling an idea, trying to land a new job, or learning to paint, the bottom line is that you have to show up. Women today have to be up to the task of inserting themselves into the big picture.”

A report by McKinsey Quarterly revealed four major barriers in that still stand in women’s way:

  • Lack of role models and networks
  • Lifestyle issues and work-life balancing
  • Imbedded institutional mindsets
  • Imbedded individual mindsets

Milazzo feels that these barriers prevent women from going after promotions and they tend to move laterally from company to company. This can be easily changed as women can now put to practice their innate qualities and use social networking to their advantage.

She adds, “No wickedly successful woman ever got anywhere waiting for the economy to get better or for women to suddenly become as valued as men in the workplace…The rise in social media and most importantly a growing appreciation for collaboration, participation, and relationship-building have created a perfect storm for entrepreneurial and enterprising women. These qualities are at the very heart of what women do best.”

Where the author believes that men possess these qualities as well, she adds women are more capable of using them and synthesizing them in the best way possible.
