The 25-year-old woman, Lisa Theris, had been in a car with two men driving along a deserted road. The men had told her they were planning on robbing a nearby hunting camp. Theris did not want anything to do with this and so jumped out of the car. She survived for three weeks in the wild by eating berries and drinking muddy water. She was covered in scratches and bite marks.

Theris was rescued after a woman, Judy Garner, spotted her while driving down the highway. Garner initially mistook her for a deer, and then realised that it was a woman. "I went over to her and asked her if she would stay there while I get water out of my van. She stayed, and I called 911 and told them I had found a girl on the road,” Garner told NBC news of her experience.

Theris has been transported to a nearby hospital. Bullocks Country Sheriff’s Department chief Anthony Williams told NBC that her injuries were not severe. The police are waiting for her body to adjust back to normal in order to ask her more questions. The police are not sure if Theris has a criminal record. The men she was with were arrested almost two weeks after she disappeared, and were charged with burglary and theft.

Theris she says that the only thing that kept her going was thinking about her family. They are ecstatic that she has been found.

"When I asked about what she ate, she had broke down and started crying, but she said the main thing that kept her alive was her family,” Williams said.
