What makes Amal Alamuddin a catch

Amal Alamuddin, a London based lawyer, activist, and author; is being highly covered by the media these days, not for her work as a barrister specializing in international law, criminal law and human rights; but because she recently tied the knot with the American Actor George Clooney. But who is Amal Alamuddin really?

Alamuddin comes from a prominent Lebanese Druze family. Her parents moved to London when she was just two years old during the Lebanese Civil War. An Oxford alumnus, she also studied law at the New York University, where she was awarded the Jack J. Katz Memorial Award, for demonstrating her excellence at entertainment law.

Alamuddin has represented prominent personalities like Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks and the former prime minister of Ukraine, Yulia Tymoshenko. She is also an adviser to the King of Bahrain and a member of the multidisciplinary Team of Experts established on behalf of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

Like her husband Clooney, Amaluddin has also been highly active in working against the atrocities committed in conflict zones. Last year, she was appointed to a number of United Nations commissions that look into war-zones issues such as the used of drones in counter-terrorism operations.

Currently being admired by the media for her fashion sense and the high profile wedding, the London based Barrister has been published in multiple books, including The Law and Practice of the Special Tribunal For Lebanon, which she co-edited with Nidal Nabil Jurdi and David Tolbert.
