On the occasion of India's 70th Independence Day, US envoy MaryKay Carlson donned a rich red Kanjeevaram saree and shared her picture on Twitter with #Sareesearch.
Carlson has been busy the past month, searching for the perfect traditional Indian attire that could make her grand debut memorable on I-Day. To make this special day noteworthy, she draped a Kanjeevaram saree – her first appearance in the traditional Indian drape – and celebrated the day with us.
Carlson had asked for suggestions on the micro-blogging site, inviting people to recommend her the ideal saree to wear on this day.
However, the red and green Kanjeevaram sari wasn’t her only option. She had listed three other sarees -- a Jamdani, a Dupion, and a Tussar sari -- to choose from. But finally, she decided to flaunt the red and green one. Before deciding on ‘the one’, she held a ‘voter’s choice’ round, which was in favour of the Kanjeevaram saree.
Though Carlson would have looked lovely in any of these sarees, the Kanjeevaram has really brought out her absolute beauty.
