Twinkle Khanna Debuts Again: As a Writer!

Think Twinkle Khanna, think versatility! This former actress, widely followed columnist and interior designer, is about to get her hands dirty in another endeavour- writing a three-part book series.

Upon reading her popular columns in the newspaper DNA, Twinkle was approached by two publishing houses for a three-book deal, reports her employer. She finally shook hands with Penguin Random House, and together, they are set to release this untitled book in the latter half of the year.

Her love for good reads is two-sided: Twinkle apart from being the voice behind her wildly popular column on her life that reads like a personal diary, also happens to be a reader with a voracious appetite. In fact, Vogue India even featured her in a cover story last year and declared they had a 'girl crush' on her after reading her columns. In order to ensure that she lives up to the expectations of her large reader base, she put a lot of thought and research into the subject of her book.  She even consulted her writer friends like Pritish Nandy and Chetan Bhagat.

A friend of the actress reveals to DNA, "She has often been asked to write a book on her father Rajesh Khanna but she has never even considered that idea. She doesn't want to go into her family' private space."

Finally, it came down to writing a serious book on the life of someone she knows, or a short children's stories compilation, or a collection of all her pieces in After Hrs. She decided to go with the last one after all, albeit, with further elaborations and even some new chapters.

Husband Akshay Kumar, who would be the first person she would run her articles by, egged her on to write the book, and so did her son Aarav, who is super-kicked about the book's release. Sister Rinky Khanna and mom Dimple Kapadia are in on the brainstorming session about the title of the book.
