A martyred BSF jawan's daughter, who wanted to meet Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani during a rally in Narmada on Friday (Dec 1), was manhandled by cops. The 26-year-old tribal woman, Rupal Tadvi, has been trying to meet the CM to inform him about the injustice to her family. But she was dragged away by policewomen. After Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi criticised the incident, the CM announced a slew of benefits for Rupal's family.

The local police have been seeing Rupal trying to seek justice  for the last couple years. She alleges that the government did not give a piece of land promised to her family after her father Ashok Tadvi's martyrdom in Kashmir in 2002

Here's the video of the incident:

Rupani was addressing the rally when Rupal, who was sitting in the audience, shouted, "I want to meet him..I want to meet him."

But before she could reach Rupani, the policewomen standing nearby dragged her away.

All Rupal was trying to do was to meet the chief minister and explain her family's situation. But the CM himself watched her being dragged away

According to the local police, Rupal and her family members had struggled to meet the CM for a very long time now. In trying to do so, they had breached the CM's security cover in the past too.

"The family claims that the land promised by the government after the death of Ashok Tadvi has not been allotted. They have been protesting for long and we have to keep an eye on them," a police officer said

The CM' act came in spotlight after Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi posted the incident's video on Twitter criticizing the act. "BJP's arrogance at its peak," he claimed. Calling Rupani a "param deshbhakt", Gandhi said this incident has shamed humanity by "throwing away a martyr's daughter".

"Patriot Rupani ji made (partymen) throw out the daughter of a martyr and has shamed humanity. The family got hollow promises instead of justice for 15 years," he added.

Earlier too, the family had tried to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking help in Bharuch, but all in vain. On January 26 this year, Rupal's mother had threatened to immolate herself if their demands not approved, but she was detained by police before the act.
