The Face of Women Leadership !

Hey Everyone,

Gone are those old days when males were considered superior and dominated the entire world. Today women are becoming more and more noticed for their hard work, intelligence quotient and leadership traits. Let us reiterate that we women are equal to and as powerful as all men in this world. Women nowadays are making roads to exceptional success into influential positions in all fields be it politics, business, media, sports or governance.  With an increasing number of working women, we have finally proved that our job is not just to fetch coffee, cook lunch and taking care of the people or surroundings at our home. We women are great multi taskers. One cannot deny the fact that the approach of women is unique from men. Women have shown the world great leadership qualities.

Women typically balance work and home perfectly. We have a higher pain tolerance capability. We give importance to our presentation, self-worth, exhibit social skills and feel no shame to take help from others. I have always adored women entrepreneurs who are confident, fearless, believe in them and have that fire and relentless zeal to walk that extra mile in a quench for success.

Let me share 5 such Indian women who are role models for me:

Arundhati Bhattacharya:  SBI chairman Arundhati Bhattacharya is a perfect role model for any aspiring female banker like me. I have just started my career in SBI as assistant and no wonder why I admire Arundhati Bhattacharya so much. She is the first woman chairperson of our 208-year-old public sector bank. She has had a meteoric rise to the top pushing all male candidates. I never miss any interviews, articles and blogs featuring Arundhati Bhattacharya. Her success story is very inspiring and motivating.

I love these powerful wordings by Madam Bhattacharya  – “When you actually tread that (difficult) path, things get resolved themselves. Nothing is as bad as it seems to be. If you take the plunge, you will somehow manage to swim across.”

Anita Dongre:

Anita Dongre is one of the most successful and popular fashion designers of India. Anita Dongre’s fashion house has three flagship brands namely AND — the contemporary western wear brand, Global Desi — the Indo-fusion brand, and her eponymous label Anita Dongre.  She says that she started her fashion house And Designs India Ltd with a vision to offer accessible, versatile, wearable and timeless fashion to the woman of today. Her three brands – AND, Global Desi and Anita Dongre, together address the varied moods, personalities, occasions and choices of an urban modern woman who juggles many roles – right from attending boardroom meetings to fun music festivals to dinner dates and festive outings. Being a blogger and fashion addict, I love Anita Dongre because it is not easy to be a designer and start your own fashion label.

Neha Kirpal:

Neha Kirpal is the Founder and Fair Director of India Art Fair – the biggest conglomeration of Indian and international art in the country which she started in 2008. Kirpal is one of the most admired art entrepreneurs in the country and her organisation has successfully completed seven editions in January this year. I am really proud of her because she is the one who took Indian art to an International level.

Chiki Sarkar:

Chiki Sarkar is the Publisher of Penguin Random House India. She has carved an identity of her own and she took over at Penguin Books India in 2011. After global publishers Penguin Books and Random House merged, in 2013, she was made the India head of the combined entity. Sarkar is the daughter of Ananda Bazaar Patrika Group owner Aveek Sarkar. She is indeed a powerful publisher.

Indra Nooyi: 

Indra Nooyi  is the current chairman and CFO of the second largest food and beverage business, PepsiCo. Nooyi joined PepsiCo in 1994 and was named president and CFO in 2001. She has been conferred with prestigious Padma Bhushan for her business achievements and being an inspiration to India’s corporate leadership.

 These are just few examples from my side. In my opinion, #EveryWomanIsALeader and maybe stories like these remain hidden in someother’s life. There might be so many untold stories like these. Some stories like these are never boring and they can inspire and make you cheerful every time they are told. These women leaders climbed the ladder of success not just because of their fortune but because of their assertiveness and willing to take risks. They read the situations accurately, made use of the opportunities and took information from everywhere. If they can do it, we can do it too. It is the patience, persistence and effort that matters. Always remember fortune favours the bold. Being women, feel more understood, supported and valued than the other way round.
