“Dangal” is movie which looks like it has many layers. It is a story of two girl wrestlers, as well as the story of a father who realises that it’s not just his son, but also his daughters who — if trained — can become gold Medalists in any given field, even wrestling.

Aamir Khan is an exceptional actor and when he chooses to do a movie it is often one with an underlying social message. The trailer of the movie has won great appreciation for the effort, the acting but even more for the struggle, the hard work of a real life father Mahavir Singh and his two daughters, Geeta and Babita Phogat.

Of course, it’s a timely moment to be seeing this, given the Olympic glory brought by India’s sportswomen at Rio!

Many have heard the name of Phogat girls who grew up from the farms of Haryana and represented their country in International Tournaments. The family of six girls from  Balali village of Bhiwani district in Haryana can be easily called as the first family who gave India its Champion Women Wrestlers.

The Dangal Movie trailer, meanwhile, has managed to touch many hearts by showing the change in mindset of a father who rested all his hopes on his son and never thought girls worthy of wrestling. We can’t wait for the movie, which releases on December 23.
