Indian Women's Kabaddi Team Wins Gold; India Achieves 100 Medals

India has reached its medal tally of 100 with the latest win by the national Indian women's kabaddi team. The team beat Chinese Taipei 26-25 at the Xiaoshan Guali Sports Centre at the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China.

India reached its medal tally of 100 on October 7 with the latest win by the national Indian women's kabaddi team. The team beat Chinese Taipei 26-25 at the Xiaoshan Guali Sports Centre at the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China. The team had earlier defeated Nepal in the semi-finals on October 6, proceeding to the Asian Games kabaddi finals at this year's tournament in Huangzhou, China.

By beating Nepal 61-17 in the semifinal kabaddi match, the Indian women's team have assured India a medal in the sport, be it gold or silver.

This year, India's performance at the Asian Games has been nothing short of extraordinary. Indian women athletes have participated in a number of sports, ranging from cricket to vaulting, and have brought home medals in javelin, shooting, boxing, tennis, table tennis, amongst a host of other sports.

On October 6, the Indian women's kabaddi team, led by Ritu Negi, defeated Nepal 61-27, storming into the finals and adding to the growing collection of medals India has obtained throughout the Asian Games 2023. According to NDTV, "the Indian raiders managed to secure nine bonus points and the defenders inflicted all-outs." Who Team India will face in the finals is still uncertain, as the semi-finals match between Iran and Chinese Taipei is set to take place on Saturday, October 7. 

India's win was met with support online, with many social media users posting their praise.
