Sarvita Sethi is Coca-Cola India’s first woman CFO
India’s largest beverage maker Coca-Cola is all set to welcome it’s first ever woman Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Sarvita Sethi, the lady who has been chosen for the job is a chartered accountant with more than 15 years of experience in corporate finance of its central and southern Europe operations. She takes over the reins from Sanjeev Kumar, VP finance for India and South West. Sethi is currently based out of Athens, Greece.
Not only will Sethi become the first woman CFO of the company, but also she will chair as the only woman in the core leadership team of Venkatesh Kini, president of Coca-Cola India and South West Asia.
Sethi joined Coca-Cola in 2008. And, prior to that she had worked for Sainsbury’s and Viacom in London. She started her work life as an audit manager for the global audit and consultancy firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in London in 1996. Right before she joined Coca Cola as Commercial Finance Director for Great Britain and Ireland regions, she had gained crucial insights about the food industry from the global QSR (Quick Service Restaurants) chain Yum!
Her appointment comes at a time when the company is under tremendous pressure to reduce costs, even as the consumption beverages is at a low in the country, and sales have not seen any major upswing in the last few years. Also, the Company is looking to promote three of it’s top executives from the Hindustan Coca-Cola beverages bottling unit to head operations globally. No doubt she is taking over at a tough juncture and the time ahead will be crucial for her as well as the Company.
