"I have no intention to contest elections, but my only agenda is to safely bring back Indian prisoners lodged in Pakistan and jails of other countries," Dalbir told TOI after joining the BJP at Fazilka, during the Kissan Morcha Sammelan.

Punjab state president Vijay Sampla and other senior leaders attended the ceremony as she joined the party. Dalbir told TOI that Home Minister Rajnath Singh was going to be present too to bring her into the BJP but bad weather prevented him from coming.

“For now, I will only campaign for the BJP, tell people about its friendlier policies, and how Modi can bring about a desired change in the country. People call Modiji anti-Dalit, anti-Muslim, and anti-Sikh, it's not so. Political parties are spreading canards about him, and I will tell the truth to them as to how only BJP is the hope of the people,” she spoke when questioned about her political agenda.

Her views on other parties like the AAP and Congress is that the people have tested all the other parties but none of them stood close to BJP.

Dalbir has earned a popular image in the state because of her fight in bringing Sarabjit back to the country from Pakistan’s Kot Lakhpat Jail. She went and asked for help from all top leaders of the country. It was the result of her campaigning that Sarabjit’s body came to India and Congress Vice-President, Rahul Gandhi, reached his native place, Bhikhiwind, to attend his funeral. Sarabjit’s wife was given employment in Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) as a teacher on the recommendation of the Congress’ Sonia Gandhi. The state also announced a three-day mourning session for  Sarabjit along with a state-level cremation. His family was given a compensation of Rs 1 crore, a gas agency and government jobs to his daughters. All of this was because of the fight Dalbir put to save her brother.

Dalbir has been a part of politics for a long time now. She started her journey with Congress Sewa Dal. Then she also became an active member of Congress Mahila Morcha but after working in close connection with BJP state president Avinash Rai Khanna, she got aligned with the BJP.
