New Update

The vice-captain of the Indian Women's Cricket team Harmanpreet Kaur is on a high. Not only did she smash a massive 171 not out in the semi-final that led India to the ICC Women’s World Cup final, she slammed her 3rd ODI hundred and also secured the place of the 5th highest run-scorer in women’s cricket. Though the team lost their final battle against England last night (July 23) at the Lord’s cricket ground in a gripping match, Kaur's performance was much talked about. Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has announced a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh for Kaur.

Keep the swag on!

According to an official spokesperson in Chandigarh, the chief minister called up Harmanpreet's father, Harmandar Singh, and gave him the good news.

The Chief Minister congratulated Kaur for her brilliant performance and wished her good luck for her future endeavours.

With the entire nation was cheering on for the cricket team and applauding her swag, Kaur's home in Moga, Punjab, celebrated her 171-run knock against Australia two days ago -- one of the greatest ODI knocks in women's cricket.

The cricketing sensation became the first Indian to play in the second season of the Kia Super League, the English domestic T20 league, after signing for Surrey Stars. She made her ODI debut at the age of 20 against arch-rivals Pakistan women in the 2009 Women’s Cricket World Cup played at Bradman Oval, Bowral. In the match, she bowled 4 overs conceding just 10 runs.
