Nishita Purohit Left Basketball To Ace AIIMS Entrance
The AIIMS entrance exam is no cakewalk, but for Surat girl Nishita Purohit it appears to be so. Nishita emerged as the topper by securing a perfect 100 percentile score. The results were declared on Thursday morning (15th June).
Besides being highly focused towards her studies, Nishita is a National-level basketball player. Her father Nirmal Indu is an alumnus of IIT. He is currently the president of a private firm in Odisha. The girl’s mother is a homemaker with a degree in pharmacy.
Shunning social media, studying for six to seven hours every day, making short notes for reference and paying attention in the classroom were a few mantras Nishita adopted to accomplish the feat.

Owing her success to her coaching institute in Kota, her parents and family, she says, “While my coaching institute guided me to success, my mother regularly visited me during my stay in Kota and both she and my brother, Anshul, motivated me to do my best.”
Talking about her future plans, she said that she is inclined towards cardiology or radiology and plans to pursue the same at AIIMS
Nishita said she had chosen to pursue a medical career instead of basketball. She had played the sport at school and national levels.
Nishita is the quintessential example of how being consistent in studies helps one achieve success. We hope more girls to get inspired from her story and take up this noble profession and help the country develop.
More power to you!
