With US President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration nearing, the conversation around Trump as America's president just keeps increasing. The most recent being, a Mormon Tabernacle choir singer, who resigned after the choir accepted an invitation to sing at Trump's inauguration ceremony.
"Since 'the announcement,' I have spent several sleepless nights and days in turmoil and agony. I have reflected carefully on both sides of the issue, prayed a lot, talked with family and friends, and searched my soul," Jan Chamberlin wrote in a resignation letter to the choir representatives. "I've tried to tell myself that by not going to the inauguration, that I would be able to stay in the choir for all the other good reasons. I've tried to tell myself that it will be all right and that I can continue in good conscience before God and man."

Chamberlin has been with the choir for five years and according to her letter, the decision was difficult to take. But the church representatives in a statement said that "Participation in the choir, including the performance at the Inauguration, is voluntary."
Stating the reason behind the decision in clear and concise words, she wrote on her Facebook post, "I only know I could never 'throw roses to Hitler.' And I certainly could never sing for him."
"Tyranny is now on our doorstep; it has been sneaking its way into our lives through stealth. Now it will burst into our homes through storm," Chamberlin added.
The choir is facing flak from across the US as people state that the choir's participation doesn't reflect values of Mormonism which is followed by millions of people in America.

Trump's inaugural committee communications director Boris Epshteyn, speaking to CNN said that the Inauguration is not a party. He said, “You know, this is not Woodstock. It’s not Summer Jam. It’s not a concert. It’s not about celebrities."
The singer's resignation adds one more to the list of people who have refused to perform at the Inauguration ceremony. Celebrities like Celine Dion, Andrea Bocelli, David Foster were invited to participate but have refused.
