A 20-year-old girl has won a cash prize of Rs 1 crore under the Lucky Grahak Yojana scheme, aimed at promoting cashless transactions. Shradha Mengshette won Rs 1 crore for making an online transaction of Rs 1,590 through a RuPay card to pay the monthly EMI for her new phone.

She is a second year student, studying electrical engineering in Latur, and was felicitated by Prime Minister Modi in Nagpur.

The Lucky Grahak Yojana scheme is to promote digital payments in India. This and the DigDhan Vyapar Yojana have ended after a 100-day information and education campaign led by the NITI Aayog.

As many as 16 lakh people won a total of Rs 258 crore because of the schemes. Manshette will use the money for her education. She is the youngest winner of this scheme.

"It was my dream to meet Modiji. I can't believe that I met him and received the award from him. I don't have words to express how I feel," she said.

A 29-year-old primary school teacher won the second prize of Rs 50 lakh. The two schemes were launched on 25 December, last year.
