Big thumbs up to the Indian women's cricket team - which once again maintained their supremacy in the Asia Cup by beating arch-rivals Pakistan for their sixth title. A consistent game and a solid team backed this story. Was this also a sweet revenge for India that had lost to Pakistan during the World T20 at home in March?

Veteran Mithali Raj, who was removed as T20 captain before the start of the tournament, made a statement with an unbeaten 73 to guide India to 121 for five in 20 overs. Mithali's 73 not out in the final was her highest score in the tournament and it came in quick time at the top of the order.

Pakistan was held up by the bowling attack by Indians. They picked only 104 for six given India a comprehensive 17-run win. Once again Ekta Bisht made headlines as took two wickets conceding 22 runs in her four overs.

Pakistan had also played well until India bettered them. Pakistan restricted India to 121-5 in 20 overs. Anam Amin claimed two wickets while Sana Mir and Sadia Yousuf took one each.

PTI reports it was the second time that India got the better of Pakistan in the competition, having beaten them by five wickets in the league stage besides remaining unbeaten in five games en route to the final.

With this win, the Indian women’s team defended their Asia Cup title won in 2012 in Guangzhou, China and extended their unbeaten streak against Pakistan in the tournament to 4-0.
