Through Sabala, they will be capable of handling eve-teasers and counter ragging and attacks.

The area's Rural SP Ch. V. Appala Naidu unveiled the initiative. He said that women police including officials and constables will be deployed at educational institutions to ensure its effective implementation and added that the girl students can approach these women cops with their grievances.

He also mentioned that a female cop will be assigned near every college from the police station close by. Besides this, the phone number of the cop on duty will be shared with the girl students of the college she is associated with. This will help the girls contact her with the purpose of seeking help, clarifications and to lodge complaints.

The SP is hopeful that the initiative will help the officials bring down the number of eve-teasing and ragging cases in the city. He has also asked the college managements to keep vigil on the happenings in classrooms and campus with the help of CCTV cameras and to sensitize the masses about Sabala.

It is good to see the authorities taking some stringent measures to stop crimes against girls and women. We hope this initiative helps girl students step out of their homes without a shred of fear in their minds.
