Taruna Aswani Stands up to cyber bullying

Taruna Aswani (26), based in the US, recently received two shocking emails from a 'Kevin John' who claimed to know her and said that he had access to her private pictures and videos. Taruna bravely stood up to him, by making her plight public on social media via a Facebook post. She mentioned that the person blackmailing her had hacked into her google cloud.

She wrote: As embarrassing as the videos may be (they were sent to my boyfriend at the time) I choose to stand up to this man. Instead of cowering down to his requests. I do this so that other women may take a lesson to stand up to bullies like this and may get the confidence to stand up as well in case he is known to us and is targeting all of us, but we’re either too scared, ashamed or clueless in how to manage or handle such situations… Perhaps someone may be able to locate this person through his digital footprint.”

She also posted screenshots of his lewd emails. He wrote that he wanted her to send him more pictures.

Aswani has also contacted the police and the FBI. She urges people to share her post in the hope that someone may be able to locate this person through his digital footprint.

The post has been shared 3,481 times and got 15,000 likes since it was posted on October 22.

The bravery Taruna has displayed is commendable and will hopefully inspire other women to stand up against cyber-bullying.
