Speaking on the occasion, Minister Umashree said, “The women of the district have created history and thus have become a role model for others. Initially they had to be dependent on banks for loans but now they have their own Co-Operative Society”, reported by Udayavani. These have been launched in Mangaluru, Bantwal, Belthangady, Sullia and Puttur taluks of Dakshina Kannada district, under Priyadarshini Yojana.

Frame-working the cooperative societies especially dedicated to women in all districts was being proposed by welfare Umashree and focuses to serve the purpose of bringing together all the taluk Sthree Shakthi Okkuta in the state.

One lakh rupees has been allotted to constitute Jilla Sthree Shakthi Okkuta. Priyadarshini scheme was announced last year to enroll more women in co-operatives.
